This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. This course is taught by a live instructor online during a weekly class. The class is delivered over three weeks and each session is 2 hours long. Once you register, study materials will be sent to you via regular mail. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. While this course contains all the same content, materials, and delivery of a face-to-face course, students will be responsible for securing the wines and a price reduction has been given to reflect the wine purchase. That said, there is no blind tasting on this exam so the number of wines is limited (3 reds, 2 whites, and 1 sweet wine) and we can, most likely, use what you have on hand. Alternatively, if you would like class purchase wines for the class, we have hand-selected an AWS 6-pack for Level 1 through WineJug, an online retail, to enhance your studies. This course is a hybrid course with 3 classes taking place on Zoom and 3 classes taking place in person on one (1) day in Cincinnati. The exam will take place in Cincinnati. Students will receive their study materials as soon as they register for the course. Once the materials have arrived, please start reading the book and taking notes, making flash cards etc. You need to come to class prepared having read the book. -

This course includes a live Exam Prep Course the day before the exam from 12-3pm. The exam prep and exam location will be the Sofitel, 20 E. Chestnut, Chicago. -

This course is an online course that begins with an instructor-led launch session on Oct 24, 2023 at 6pm CST. This 2-hour session is recorded and can be viewed anytime. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. This course contains the same content and materials of our in-person course, however, students are responsible for securing wines locally. A list of suggested wines will be provided during the launch session.

This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. D1 Wine Production is the first course all Diploma candidates must take before moving on to other units. It delves into the science of wine to include viticulture & vinification practices as well as maturation, treatments, and packaging around the globe. It is assessed by means of a 90 min open-response exam that is offered several times a year. The course fee includes both WSET Global Classroom and American Wine School Virtual Lectures on Zoom. The WSET Global Classroom is an independent study program with quizzes and activities to help you move through the content. Guided by an online tutor, the Global Classroom does not have lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures with specific dates and times. All sessions are recorded. Additionally, the course fee includes a 3 year materials and registration fee. -
