• This entry level course provides basic information on classic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food & wine pairing as well as basic wine service & storage. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 Wine Award certificate and is a great starting point for novice consumers. No experience required. This course is an online course that begins with an instructor-led launch session on ZOOM. This 2-hour session is recorded and can be viewed anytime for those who cannot attend. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. This course contains the same content and materials of our in-person course, however, students are responsible for securing wines locally. A list of suggested wines will be provided during the launch session.    
  • This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. The virtual D5 Diploma course focuses on fortified wines around the world. The course includes the Diploma D5 eBook, WSET Online Program to include activities and quizzes led by a WSET tutor, and American Wine School Virtual Classes on Zoom.
  • This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. The virtual D4 Diploma course focuses on sparkling wines around the world. The course includes the Diploma D4 eBook, Online Course and American Wine School Virtual Classes on Zoom. The D4 exam takes place in Chicago.
  • This course is for those who have completed the D1 unit of Diploma. It is the second course and exam toward the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines award. The Business of wine covers the costs involved in producing wine including winery, distribution, and transportation costs as well as marketing expenses. It is assessed by means of a 60 min open-response exam that is offered 4 times a year: Jan, March, June, and October. The course includes both American Wine School Flex-Study Portal and American Wine School led virtual classes on Zoom. The Flex-Study Portal is an independent study program with quizzes and activities to help you move through the content. Guided by an online tutor, the Flex-Study Portal does not have lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures with specific dates and times. All sessions are recorded.
