For those candidates who cannot attend Diploma classes in Chicago, the American Wine School offers WSET Online via tutor-guided, self-study programs offered by WSET’s Global Classroom.

Since there are no set class dates, studying online offers candidates the flexibility to fit their studies around their commitments and lifestyle. Your WSET program will work to keep you moving through the program, but you can work on your own as your schedule allows. In addition, the American Wine School offer access to online videos, online presentations, recorded classes, and live tasting days when you are in Chicago sitting an exam.

Please note exams are NOT given online. Each Unit has specific exam dates in Chicago. Once you sign up for the course, you will automatically be signed up for the exam date associated with the course. If you have questions or are in need of more information, please email

Covid -19 Update: In addition to the WSET Online program, the American Wine School will host virtual, online tasting sessions throughout the D1 & D2 program. Candidates are also encouraged to write the independent D6 Research Paper during this time. The paper is written at home on your own time making it a great unit to complete during Covid-19 sheltering. The topics will be announced Aug 1st, 2020.
