Taught by Master Sommelier Jill Zimporski, this 3-week course will provides hands-on introduction to the world of spirits. You’ll explore the main styles and types of spirits through sight, smell, and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavors and aromas. In addition to Zoom lectures, the course includes recorded videos and a practice quiz. The final 45 minute exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. Successful completion of the exams earns students WSET level 1 Award in Spirits certificate. The total number of course hours is 6.

The American Wine School Virtual  WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits

The American Wine School Virtual Classroom meets weekly at specific dates and times just like an in-person classroom. These classroom lectures are led by a live instructor from the American Wine School and are identical to our face-to-face instruction with one exception; Students are responsible for purchasing the spirits for the course. Virtual sessions are recorded for candidates who might miss a class or want to listen to a lecture again. While there is no blind tasting on the exam, sampling spirits is a fun part of the learning experience. Students should taste a range of spirits during their studies.
