The class begins with virtual ZOOM classes online and also includes an in-person tasting & classes in Detroit. We highly suggest candidates order their study materials well in advance of the class to study at home. Flash cards, note taking, and reading the book is a must before class. The course includes:

  • This course is taught as a hybrid class with both instructor-led courses on Zoom and in-person classes in Pittsburgh. The course also offers online practice quizzes and tasting note feedback to support your studies. Successful completion results in the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines. Course materials will be sent as soon as we receive your registration.
  • This is a custom-hybrid course recommended for those who have earned the Intermediate Certificate, or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. The class begins with at home study and an in-person tasting day in Jan 2022 before participating in a Virtual, instructor-led program. After the Virtual portion of the program, an all day exam prep sessions take place in person in Pittsburgh. The sessions include review lectures, tastings, and exam prep. Successful candidates receive the Level 3 Certificate of the WSET.
  • This course and exam will take place in in-person in Chicago at Binny's Beverage Depot in Lincoln Park. Students will receive their study materials as soon as they register for the course. Once the materials have arrived, please start reading the book and taking notes, making flash cards etc. You  need to come to class prepared having read the book.
  • This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required.

    This course is recommended for those who have earned the Intermediate Certificate, or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. This program is a hybrid course designed to provide candidates with both Virtual (instructor-led lectures and pre-recorded lectures) and In-person classroom instruction. The WSET Level 3 exam consists of two sections: Theory and Tasting. To thoroughly prepare candidates for the exam, the Virtual sessions focus primarily on theory via Instructor-led lectures on Zoom, and the in-person session focus on both tasting and theory. To prepare for the exam, candidates will be asked to complete and submit mock exams for individual feedback. In addition, candidates are asked to submit weekly tasting notes for one-on-one feedback to perfect wine tasting notes using the WSET SAT. We highly suggest candidates order their study materials well in advance of the class to study at home. Flash cards, note taking, and reading the book is a must before class. Successful candidates receive the Level 3 Certificate of the WSET.

The WSET Global Classroom D3 Diploma course focuses on the wines of the world. The course includes the Diploma D3 eBook and online activities and quizzes led by WSET. The American Wine School offers one-on-one tasting feedback online. The American Wine School also offers Virtual lectures on Zoom for select wine regions. The D3 exam is offered May and Oct of each year. The exam is given over two days in Chicago.
