    For individuals new to the subject, this qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of sake. You’ll explore the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavors and aromas. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. There are no entry requirements for this qualification. You must be of legal drinking age in the country where you are attending the course to participate in any alcohol tasting. However, this is not a barrier to successfully completing the qualification.

Perfect for people new to the world of spirits, this course results in a WSET Level 1 Spirits certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. Your exam maybe taken in-person in Chicago or online in the comfort of your own home. Please indicate in the comment section which exam mode you would like to sit.

Perfect for people new to the world of spirits, this course results in a WSET Level 1 Spirits certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. Your exam maybe taken in-person in Chicago or online in the comfort of your own home. Please indicate in the comment section which exam mode you would like to sit.
  • This entry level course provides basic information on spirits, introduction to spirit tasting as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of spirits, this course results in a WSET Level 1 Spirits certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. This course is taught by a live instructor online during a weekly class. The class is delivered over four weeks and each session is 1.5 hours long. Once you register, study materials will be sent to you via regular mail. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. While this course contains all the same content, materials, and delivery of a face-to-face course, students will be responsible for securing the spirits to taste.  That said, there is no blind tasting on this exam so the number of spirits tasted is limited and most likely, you can use what you have on hand.

Students will be introduced to our Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits while also exploring the use of spirits in cocktails. The product knowledge gained on this course will give a significant advantage to those working with spirits in both on- and off-trade alcohol.

    The in-person exam will take place in Chicago or you may opt to take your exam online from the comfort of your own home. A log-in code will be sent to you by WSET the week that the class opens. Exam location will be Sofitel, 20 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago. Your study material will be sent to you via mail as soon as you purchase the class.
