    This flexible, entry-level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. The online course is based around a 4-week, 7 module online learning programme with educator support available during this time. Each module includes a series of independent activities to help you understand the differences between grape varieties and types and styles of wine. No lectures dates are associated with this course.

  • Unit 3 Still Wines of the World

    Unit 3 explores still wines around the globe. Unit 3 is assessed by two separate exams; a tasting exam and a theory, closed-book examination. The exams are held over two days.  The Unit 3 exam dates for 2019 are October 29th and 30th.

  • Before purchasing this course, please register for the Diploma Program by purchasing the registration separately. This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. D1 Wine Production is the first course Diploma candidates must take before moving on to other units.  It delves into the science of wine to include viticulture & vinification practices as well as maturation, treatments, and packaging around the globe. It is assessed by means of a 90 min open-response exam that  is offered several times a year. The exam date is associated with the course and cannot be changed as exams are ordered in advance. Candidates who miss their scheduled exam will be subject to a missed exam fee. The course fee includes online Flex-study Portal, Virtual Zoom Lectures, and exam fee. The Flex-study Portal is an independent study program with quizzes, activities, and a mock exam to help you move through the content. Guided by an online facilitator, the Flex-study Portal also has recorded lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures on ZOOM with specific dates and times. All sessions are recorded.
