This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. This course is taught by a live instructor online during a weekly class. The class is delivered over three weeks and each session is 2 hours long. Once you register, study materials will be sent to you via regular mail. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. While this course contains all the same content, materials, and delivery of a face-to-face course, students will be responsible for securing the wines. -
This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. It is the largest course of the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines award. The WSET Global Classroom D3 Diploma course focuses on the wines of the world. The course includes the Diploma D3 eBook and online activities and quizzes led by WSET. The American Wine School offers one-on-one tasting feedback online. The American Wine School also offers Virtual lectures on Zoom for select wine regions. The D3 exam is offered May and Oct of each year. The exam is given over two days in Chicago. -
This course is recommended for those who have earned the Intermediate Certificate, or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. The class is conducted with one virtual ZOOM launch class followed by an online course with video lectures, mock exams, practice quizzes, readings, and one-on-one tasting note feedback. The online course is facilitated by an online tutor. We highly suggest candidates order their study materials well in advance of the class to study at home. This course is a hybrid course with 3 classes taking place on Zoom and 3 classes taking place in person on one (1) day in Cincinnati. The exam will take place in Cincinnati. Students will receive their study materials as soon as they register for the course. Once the materials have arrived, please start reading the book and taking notes, making flash cards etc. You need to come to class prepared having read the book. -
This course is for those who have completed the D1 unit of Diploma. It is the second course and exam toward the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines award. The Business of wine covers the costs involved in producing wine including winery, distribution, and transportation costs as well as marketing expenses. It is assessed by means of a 60 min open-response exam that is offered 4 times a year: Jan, March, June, and October. The course includes both American Wine School Flex-Study Portal and American Wine School led virtual classes on Zoom. The Flex-Study Portal is an independent study program with quizzes and activities to help you move through the content. Guided by an online tutor, the Flex-Study Portal does not have lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures with specific dates and times. All sessions are recorded. -

It is assessed by means of a 90 min open-response exam that is offered several times a year. The course fee includes online Flex-study Portal, Virtual Zoom Lectures, and exam fee. The Flex-study Portal is an independent study program with quizzes, activities, and a mock exam to help you move through the content. Guided by an online facilitator, the Flex-study Portal also has recorded lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures on ZOOM with specific dates and times.
