Perfect for people new to the world of wine, Wine 101 is designed to teach you how to taste wine like a professional. The course is one night for 2 hours (6pm - 8pm CST). It is taught by a live instructor online. No experience required. From your local retailer, please have the following wines ready during class: Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, California Chardonnay, Pinot Noir from Oregon or France, and a Zinfandel from California. Half bottles are a great way to keep costs down. -
This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. This course is taught by a live instructor online during a weekly class. The class is delivered over three weeks and each session is 2 hours long. Once you register, study materials will be sent to you via regular mail. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. While this course contains all the same content, materials, and delivery of a face-to-face course, students will be responsible for securing the wines. -
This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. It is the largest course of the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines award. The WSET Global Classroom D3 Diploma course focuses on the wines of the world. The course includes the Diploma D3 eBook and online activities and quizzes led by WSET. The American Wine School offers one-on-one tasting feedback online. The American Wine School also offers Virtual lectures on Zoom for select wine regions. The D3 exam is offered May and Oct of each year. The exam is given over two days in Chicago. -

This course is recommended for those who have earned the WSET Level 2 Wine certification or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. This program is a hybrid course designed to provide candidates with alternating Virtual (instructor-led lectures and pre-recorded lectures) and In-person classroom instruction. The WSET Level 3 exam consists of two sections: Theory and Tasting. To thoroughly prepare candidates for the exam, the Virtual sessions focus primarily on theory via Instructor-led lectures on Zoom, and the in-person session focus on both tasting and theory. To prepare for the exam, candidates will be asked to submit weekly tasting notes for one-on-one feedback to perfect wine tasting notes using the WSET SAT as will as access to an online practice quiz. We highly suggest candidates order their study materials well in advance of the class to study at home. Flash cards, note taking, and reading the book is a must before class. Successful candidates receive the Level 3 Certificate of the WSET. -
This course and exam will take place in in-person in Chicago at Binny's Beverage Depot in Lincoln Park. Students will receive their study materials as soon as they register for the course. Once the materials have arrived, please start reading the book and taking notes, making flash cards etc. You need to come to class prepared having read the book. -
