This entry level course provides basic information on classic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food & wine pairing as well as basic wine service & storage. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 Wine Award certificate and is a great starting point for novice consumers. No experience required. This course is an online course that begins with an instructor-led launch session on Oct 24, 2023 at 6pm CST. This 2-hour session is recorded and can be viewed anytime. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. This course contains the same content and materials of our in-person course, however, students are responsible for securing wines locally. A list of suggested wines will be provided during the launch session. -
This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. D1 Wine Production is the first course all Diploma candidates must take before moving on to other units. It delves into the science of wine to include viticulture & vinification practices as well as maturation, treatments, and packaging around the globe. It is assessed by means of a 90 min open-response exam that is offered several times a year. The course fee includes both WSET Global Classroom and American Wine School Virtual Lectures on Zoom. The WSET Global Classroom is an independent study program with quizzes and activities to help you move through the content. Guided by an online tutor, the Global Classroom does not have lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures with specific dates and times. All sessions are recorded. Additionally, the course fee includes a 3 year materials and registration fee. -

The in-person exam takes place in Chicago or you may opt to take your exam online from the comfort of your own home. A log-in code will be sent to you by WSET the week that the class opens.
