The online course is based around a 4-week, 7 module online learning programme with educator support available during this time. Each module includes a series of independent activities to help you understand the differences between grape varieties and types and styles of wine. No lectures dates are associated with this course.

    This course is taught online via the WSET Global Classroom. There are no scheduled lectures. Instead, this flexible study program offers quizzes and activities online with a tutor. The in-person exam takes place in Chicago or you may opt to take your exam online from the comfort of your own home. A log-in code will be sent to you by WSET the week that the class opens. Exam location will be Sofitel, 20 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago. Your study material will be sent to you via mail as soon as you purchase the class.
  • This intermediate level course provides information on basic grape varieties, climates, and wine making techniques used in the major grape growing regions of the world. Additionally, the course includes service, storage and tasting techniques. This course results in a WSET Level 2 certificate. No experience required. This course is taught by a live instructor online and is delivered over 6 weeks. Once you register, study materials will be sent to you via regular mail. You can begin studying immediately. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. While the classroom is virtual and contains all the content, materials, and instruction a live class would, students are required to purchase their own wine. Since there is no blind tasting associated with the exam, students can taste as many or as little of suggested wines as they desire. The instructor will provide a wine list needed for the class.
  • This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. The virtual D5 Diploma course focuses on fortified wines around the world. The course includes the Diploma D5 eBook, WSET Online Program to include activities and quizzes led by a WSET tutor, and American Wine School Virtual Classes on Zoom. The D5 exam will take place on June 19, 2022 at 3:30pm in Chicago.
  • Unit 3 Still Wines of the World

    Unit 3 explores still wines around the globe. Unit 3 is assessed by two separate exams; a tasting exam and a theory, closed-book examination. The exams are held over two days.  The Unit 3 exam dates for 2019 are October 29th and 30th.
  • Unit 4 Spirits of the World

    Unit 4 explores the methods of spirit production as well as the types and styles of spirits around the globe. Unit 4 is assessed by a combined tasting and theory, closed-book examination, consisting of a tasting paper of three sparkling wines and one theory question.
  • This course is a hybrid course with some classes in person and some on Zoom conducted by an instructor. The exam and in-person classes will take place in person at the Sofitel, 20 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago. Students will receive their study materials as soon as they register for the course. Once the materials have arrived, please start reading the book and taking notes, making flash cards etc. You  need to come to class prepared having read the book.
  • This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines. The virtual D6 Diploma course is an independent research paper on a wine-related topic. Each year on Aug 1st, WSET announces two new topics for the coming academic year. Candidates may selected a topic that interests them and complete a 3,000 word research paper independently. The topic of this paper is Virginia Wines. Candidates must register by purchasing this product by Jan  13, 2025. The submission date for a hard copy of the paper is Jan 31, 2025. A hard copy of the paper must arrive before end of business (5pm CST) on Jan 31, 2025. General Tips:
    • Follow all the regulations outlined in the paper guidance.
    • Don't change the name of the paper.
    • Your paper must have a diverse bibliography.
    • Your paper must be cited. Check out Purdue Owl for citation examples. (owl.purdue.edu)
    • Follow the brief. Your  paper should answer the questions in the brief. Stay on topic.
    • Let someone else read the brief and the paper to be sure you have answered the questions on the brief.

  • This is an online course covering classic grape varieties from major regions around the world. During the 7-week program, candidates will explore how climate plays a role in creating wine styles, develop tasting skills using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT), and discover basic winemaking & grape growing choices that influence a wines style, quality, and price. The course begins with an instructor-led, ZOOM launch session on July 22, 2025 at 6pm CST. You will received the Zoom Link the day before your course begins. The Zoom class is recorded. During the remaining weeks, candidates are free to move thru the program at their own pace with the aid of an online tutor. The course contains the same content and materials of our in-person course but is designed to be flexible and can be accessed at any time. It includes tasting note submission/feedback, pre-recorded lectures, videos, supplemental study aids, and access to ask questions via a student/tutor discussion board. While there is no wine tasting on the exam, students are encouraged to sample a wide array of wines to enrich their studies. A list of suggested wines will be provided and candidates are responsible for purchasing their wines locally. The course exam is offer both online and in-person in Chicago. Candidates must state which mode of exam they would like to sit at the time of purchase. Once an exam preference has been registered, it cannot be changed.
  • This course is recommended for those who have earned the Intermediate Certificate, or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. The class is conducted with virtual ZOOM classes online and also in-person tasting & classes in Detroit. The exam is in person in Detroit. We highly suggest candidates order their study materials well in advance of the class to study at home. Flash cards, note taking, and reading the book is a must before class. The course includes:
