The WSET Level 2 Wine course focuses on wine tasting, pairing, storage & service as well as factors that affect the style and quality of wine. Students will learn how environmental factors influence wine style and quality. Additionally, the course covers white, rose, and red wine making in various regions around the world. A particular focus is place on understanding classic grape varieties as well as labeling terms. Fortified and Sparkling wines are also discussed. The course assessment is a 60 min, 50 question, multiple choice exam. Course objectives, study hours, and suggested wines may be found in the course Specification. Online WSET Level 2 Award in Wines with AWS Flex-Study™
The AWS Flex-Study™ offers the most flexible, lecture-based program for studying wine. All courses begins with an instructor-led launch session designed to provide students with a course induction, answer any student questions, and explain the tasting process including suggested wines. The launch session is recorded and maybe viewed anytime. Students then move through the program at their own pace via pre-recorded lectures, videos, practice quizzes, wine tasting feedback and more.
Once the course is over, students may sit the exam either in person at an American Wine School location or online from the comfort of your own home. While there is no blind tasting on the exam, sampling wines is a fun part of the learning experience. A list of suggested wines will be sent to candidates prior to the first class so you can source them locally. Successful completion of the exam earns students WSET Level 2 Award in Wines digital certificate.
