This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. The final assessment is a 60 min, 50-question multiple choice exam. The total course hours are 30. The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines course objectives and suggested wines may be found in the course Specification. WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Specification

AWS Flex-Study® WSET Level 2 Award in Wines

The American Wine School Flex-Study® offers the most flexible, lecture-based program for studying wine. All courses begins with an instructor-led launch session designed to provide students with a course induction, answer any student questions, and explain the tasting process including suggested wines. The launch session is recorded and maybe viewed anytime. Next, students move through the program at their own pace via pre-recorded lectures, videos, practice quizzes, wine tasting feedback and more.

Once the course is over, students sit the exam in person at an American Wine School location or online from the comfort of your own home. While there is no blind tasting on the exam, sampling wines is a fun part of the learning experience. Students should taste a range of wines during their studies. A list of suggested wines will be sent to candidates prior to the first class so you can source them locally. During the course, students are able to ask questions, chat with other candidates, and submit tasting notes for one-on-one feedback.
