This course is for those who have earned the WSET Level 3 in Wines.
D1 Wine Production is the first course all Diploma candidates must take before moving on to other units. It delves into the science of wine to include viticulture & vinification practices as well as maturation, treatments, and packaging around the globe. It is assessed by means of a 90 min open-response exam that is offered several times a year.
The deadline to sign up for the course is 8 – 10 days before the first class date. The course includes both WSET Global Classroom and American Wine School led virtual classes on ZOOM. The WSET Global Classroom is an independent study program with quizzes and activities to help you move through the content. Guided by an online tutor, the Global Classroom does not have lectures. The American Wine School Virtual sessions are instructor-led lectures with specific dates and times. All sessions are recorded. In some course the Global Classroom and AWS Virtual sessions will take place concurrently; other times the two programs may be offered consecutively.
