  • This course and exam will take place in in-person in Chicago at Binny's Beverage Depot in Lincoln Park. Students will receive their study materials as soon as they register for the course. Once the materials have arrived, please start reading the book and taking notes, making flash cards etc. You  need to come to class prepared having read the book.

  • This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this course results in a WSET Level 1 certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers. No experience required. This course is taught by a live instructor online during a weekly class. The class is delivered over three weeks and each session is 2 hours long. Once you register, study materials will be sent to you via regular mail. A class link will be sent to you via email a few days before the class begins. While this course contains all the same content, materials, and delivery of a face-to-face course, students will be responsible for securing the wines and a price reduction has been given to reflect the wine purchase. That said, there is no blind tasting on this exam so the number of wines is limited (3 reds, 2 whites, and 1 sweet wine) and we can, most likely, use what you have on hand. Alternatively, if you would like class purchase wines for the class, we have hand-selected an AWS 6-pack for Level 1 through WineJug, an online retail, to enhance your studies. An exam prep course (2 hours live in Chicago) is also included the day before your scheduled exam. We highly suggest candidates order their study materials well in advance of the class to study at home. Flash cards, note taking, and reading the book is a must before class. The sessions include Virtual lectures, and In-person tastings, and exam prep. Successful candidates receive the Level 3 Certificate of the WSET.
